What is Bus Linie Navi?
Bus Linie Navi is a navigation app for drivers of scheduled city and regional buses. It guides drivers by voice exactly along their operator’s approved route, including diversions, and works offline. It is available for iPhone and Android.
How is Bus Linie Navi different from a truck or car sat nav?
A normal sat nav looks for the fastest road to an address. Bus Linie Navi knows the route: drivers choose operator, route and direction, and the app stays on the approved route – including loop routes and sections driven twice.
For drivers
Can I use the app while driving?
The app is built so you don’t need to look at the screen while driving: all instructions come by voice and the screen can stay dark. Only operate the app when the bus is stationary and follow the rules of your country and your employer.
How much does Bus Linie Navi cost?
You can try the app free for 7 days. You’ll see the current price in the App Store or on Google Play before you subscribe. One home route stays free forever, and you can cancel anytime.
Can my employer pay for it?
Often, yes. The app creates a ready-made reimbursement request you can send to your manager. In Germany, employers can reimburse the cost tax-free under § 3 No. 50 EStG. For whole fleets there are company licences.
My operator is not in the app. What can I do?
Send us city, operator and route using the “City missing?” form or directly in the app. We check the data and let you know as soon as your route is available.
Does the app work without internet?
Yes. Maps and routing run on the phone, and routes are calculated on the device. You only need a connection for live data and route updates.
For operators
What are live routes?
Live routes are current route versions maintained by the operator, for example during roadworks or events. The app downloads them automatically, and short-notice changes arrive by push while driving. Drivers no longer have to memorise diversions.
How do our routes get into the app?
We import your routes from OpenStreetMap or create them in the web editor. Your control centre draws diversions on the map itself, with a validity period.
Does Bus Linie Navi work outside Germany?
Yes. Maps and routing cover all of Europe and the app speaks seven languages. We set up routes for operators in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and other countries.
What about data protection and works councils?
The app is built to guide drivers, not to monitor performance or behaviour. We sign a data processing agreement under the GDPR and provide documents for your works council.
How does a pilot work?
A pilot runs for three months at one depot. We set up your routes, switch on live routes and evaluate the pilot together. Terms are agreed individually and there is no automatic renewal.
